Benjamin G. Browdy, former president of the Zionist Organization of America and delegate to the Democratic National Convention, today declared here that he will propose to the platform committee the inclusion of a plank in the Democratic platform demanding the re-call of the McCarran Immigration Law which was adopted over President Truman’s veto and which was characterized by many Jewish and liberal organizations as “racial in character and un-American in intent.”
Mr. Browdy had a number of conferences in Washington with Frank B. McKinney, party chairman, with whom he discussed, among other things, the Israel plank in the Democratic platform. “Under our democratic system,” Mr. Browdy said, “we can start working for the re-call of a law immediately after it was passed, if, in our judgment, it is contrary to the country’s interests. The time to start a campaign for the re-call of the McCarran law is now and not later.
