The 20-member delegation of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, currently visiting France, met with the executive board of the Fonds Social Juif Unifie. The two groups discussed the democratization measures currently being taken by the FSJU to make the French organization more representative.
The American delegation, led by CJF president, Raymond Epstein, and CJF overseas services chairman, Harold Friedman, told of efforts taken in the U.S. to stimulate the participation of larger sectors of the American Jewish community. The talks are due to continue until Friday. The American delegation also met with the permanent commission of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions (CRIF), and discussed in particular the problems of North African settlers in France. Members of the delegation were later guests of honor at a reception given in the evening by FSJU president, Guy de Rothschild.
