Condoleezza Rice began her first Middle East mission as U.S. secretary of state. Rice flew in to Tel Aviv from Turkey on Sunday and was scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in the evening, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank the following day.
