The property, known as Abraham’s Vineyard, which is situated outside the city walls of Jerusalem, is being handed over to the International Hebrew Christian Alliance, according to a decision adopted by the present owners of the property, the “Society for the Relief of Distressed Jews,” Sir Leon Levison, the President of the Alliance, states in the current issue of the “Hebrew-Christian,” the quarterly magazine of the Alliance.
Writing of the future administration of this property, Sir Leon says that the Alliance intends to adhere to the policy of the Society for Relief of Distressed Jews, and to give work to Jews in distress in Palestine, whether they be converted or not. Secondly, its plans will be to set up buildings, where it can teach Hebrew Christians trades, such as boot-making, carpentry, tailoring, printing, etc, in order that they may become self-supporting. Thirdly, in past years Jews were taught on this property to make oil soap. This the Alliance intends to revive. They hope to build a Hebrew Christian Church, where services will be conducted by Hebrew Christians.
With the consent of the retiring trustees of the property, viz., the Earl of Shaftesbury, the Rev. A. H. Finn, Miss Finn, and Mrs. D. Petrie, Dr. Gold-Levin, the Rev. S. B. Rohold, and Sir Leon Levison have been appointed to act as new trustees along with Mrs. Petrie. Sir Leon has decided to go to Palestine next March, in order to inspect the property and report thereon to the executive committee of the International Hebrew Christian Alliance.
