The value of Jewish property confiscated by the governments of Iraq and Egypt amounts to about $80,000,000 in each country, Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the executive of the World Jewish Congress, told a press conference here today following his return from Paris.
A White Paper dealing with the persecution of Jews in Egypt and Iraq was released at the press conference. It charges the governments of the two Arab states with conducting “a deliberate and calculated program to exterminate a defenseless minority group.” Dr. Goldmann expressed the hope that U.N. member nations, upon receipt of the White Paper, will communicate to the governments of Egypt and Iraq their outrage over the mistreatment of the Jews in their countries.
