Ehud Olmert said Israel must use negotiations, not unilateral moves, in attempting to reach peace with the Palestinians. The Israeli prime minister said the violence that followed Israel’s two unilateral withdrawals — first from Lebanon and later from Gaza — convinced him to quash the idea of future unilateral moves. Olmert made his comments in an interview with the Chinese news agency Xinhua ahead of a three-day visit to China that began Tuesday.
