The Rumanian Ministry for Religion has approved the appointment of a Supreme Rabbinical Council which, under the current by-laws of the Jewish community, will be the highest religious authority for Rumanian Jewry.
On the nomination of the Federation of Jewish Communities, the Ministry approved the following appointments for members of the Council: Chief Rabbi Moses Rosen, chairman of the Council; Rabbis I. Halpert, M. Eschenazy, S. Glantz, M. Halevy and H. Rabinocivi, of Bucharest; Rabbi David Sperber of Brasov; a Rabbi Adler of Turda; a Rabbi Guttman of Jassy; a Rabbi Schoenfeld of Arad and a Rabbi Friedman of Bahusi.
