Israel’s Foreign Minister Golda Meir declared here last night that “Israel would be happy to help Russia solve its Jewish problem;” Speaking at the closing session of the eighth annual Ichud Olami convention, Mrs. Meir said it was “the miracle of the age” that Soviet Jews had managed to retain their Jewish identity at all.
A resolution calling on Russia to allow its Jewish citizens the freedom of their own culture and permit the reunion of families was unanimously passed by the delegates. Another resolution stressed immigration to Israel as the personal duty of every labor Zionist. Ichud Olami will begin at the end of this year to organize special groups for immigration, it was announced.
