Joseph I. Linton, Israel’s first Minister to Australia, arrived here by air and was welcomed at the Mascot airport by government officials and Jewish leaders. Yehuda H. Levin, Israel charge d’affaires, was also on hand to greet the diplomat.
Mr. Linton said that he wished to help maintain and strengthen the bonds of friendship and sympathy between Australia and Israel, to the mutual benefit of both countries. He pointed out that a number of young Australian Jews were now living in the Jewish state. Mr. Linton, formerly an official of the Israel Foreign Ministry, will live in Sydney at first, and may later move to Canberra.
