The first national merit fellowship in the field of social work was announced here today by the National Jewish Welfare Board, The JWB fellowship, worth $3,000, will be spread over two years to permit graduate social work education for a person seeking a career in Jewish community center or YMHA work.
The fellowship is sponsored by the JWB Presidents Club, an organization of present and past Jewish community center presidents. Deadline for applications, available to college graduates interested in social work, is March 15.
The fellowship was made possible by contributions from Hyman Rogal, president of the club; Morris Cafritz, of Washington, Philip Dimond, of Paterson, New Jersey; and Aaron Brenner, of Memphis. Tenn.
