More than 125 Jewish student leaders from 78 colleges and universities assembled here today for the nationwide Hillel Summer Institute sponsored by the B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundations. The Institute will last sight days.
“The fact that this Institute is searching for values rooted in Judaism does not mean that we are an isolated fragment of the community,” Rabbi Arthur Lelyveld, national director of the Hillel Foundations, declared. “We are united with our fellow American young people of all races and creeds in behalf of human freedom resting on a concept of the sanctity of the individual man. “We are united in a free search for truth through study and discussion and in the exaltation of kindliness and of concern for our fellow men,” he said.
