“Kill the Jews, save Russia” has again become the slogan of the Russian anti-Semites, even among the workingmen, according to revelations made in the Soviet organ, “Pravda.”
In urging the authorities to increase the fight against anti-Semitism, the newspaper devotes two columns to detailing facts of the anti-Semitic activity.
In Leningrad, the paper states, even the Jewish Communists in the factories are beaten. At the factory “Lit,” anti-Semites surrounded the Jewish workers shouting “Zhidy,” and insulted the Jewish workers by measuring their noses. They inseribed on the factory walls the slogan “Fight Zhids, save Russia.” Similar cases took place in other factories.
In Charkoff, three Communists, leaders of the cooperative, issued a shameful proclamation against the Jews. In Moscow the Communist official, Kolbasin, in a letter to his Jewish neighbor, Rosenbaum, openly stated: “You remember the old pogroms, be careful.”
Citing numerous other incidents the paper states: “We know that anti-Semitism is the result of the economic situation and competition in private commerce, also unemployment in offices were there are numerous Jewish workers. It is also due to the housing shortage. Anti-Semitism must be fought because it damages not only the Jews but the prestige of the Government as well.”
