King Hussein of Jordan said here Tuesday that Jordan will soon buy French-made Mirage combat planes including the Delta winged Mirage-2000 and 4000 models, believed to be among the world’s most sophisticated aircraft. The King, who watched an overflight demonstration of Mirages, said the Jordanian Air Force will first acquire the F- I and later the newer models. The manufacturers of the 2000 and 4000 models, the Marcel Dassault group, say the two planes can outmatch any model within their category existing or on the drawing boards. French officials believe that unless Jordan obtains large-scale financial assistance from Saudi Arabia and the other Arab oil producing countries, it will not be able to afford more than a token Mirage force.
