It was learned today that the Palestine Government is considering mobilization of 1,000 Jews into a special unit to help Government forces cope with the Arab revolt.
An offer to aid mobilization of such a force was made to High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope by representatives of various Jewish organizations in view of the continuing terror. It was estimated that it would be at least another month before a semblance of order is completely restored.
It is understood the Government is ready to accept the offer providing the unit is disbanded after three months and if the Jewish Agency for Palestine contributes about $30 monthly for each recruit’s maintenance.
