Three Latvian Jewish diplomats, Messrs. Klugman, Brackman and Fietelberg, today received appointments as Consuls General in Bulgaria. Portugal and Jugoslavia. The three newly-appointed officials will take up their posts as Latvian representatives immediately.
Latvia is now ruled by a nationalist dictatorship, which seized power about one month ago. One of the first steps the government took was to arrest a number of Jewish Socialist and working class leaders and to suppress all Yiddish papers in Latvia except the organ of the orthodox Jews. A number of Jewish communal institutions were closed at the same time.
