An article in the current issue of the publication of the Istiqlal opposition party on Jews and Zionists provoked concern today among Moroccan Jews.
The article asserted flatly that there was no difference between Jews and Zionists and that it was the “duty” of Moroccan citizens to prepare lists of companies and societies “at the heart of which are notorious Zionists.” The article said such lists should be widely disseminated.
Some 80 Moroccan Jews are reported to be in prison on charges of pro-Zionist sympathies.
