There are 68,000 Jews in Jugoslavia, or slightly less than one-half of one per cent of the entire population, according to statistics compiled by the Union of Jugoslavic Jewish Communities.
Males exceed females by 600. Business men number 9,000, while those engaging in the professions are 1,500. Artisans total 2,000, of whom 500 live in Serajevo, where the match was touched to the World War.
During 1933 there were 653 births and 748 deaths. Four hundred marriages were solemnized, thirty-two divorces granted, eleven persons joined the faith.
