The Government of Iraq has ordered Jewish schools to be closed on Friday and to be open on Saturday.
This order has aroused considerable indignation and protest among the Jewish population. Jewish circles point out that the compulsory non observance of the Sabbath is in contravention to the national minority guarantees which Iraq as a member of the League of Nations is in duty bound to observe.
