Maj. Gen. Shlomo Goren, Chief Chaplain of Israel’s Armed Forces and Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, returned yesterday night from a six-week tour of three continents. He said the Jewish communities he had visited expressed even higher praise for Israel’s Air Force than do Americans. At one United States military base in Japan, he reported, his hosts said they were following Israeli military exploits with great interest. The American commanders there said their Phantom jet pilots had adopted Israeli flying tactics. During his tour, Rabbi Goren held memorial services in Hiroshima and at Pearl Harbor.
