Raphael Recanati, an Israeli business magnate, died last Friday in New York at the age of 75. After Israel was established in 1948, he founded the Israel- America Line shipping company, which transported food and arms to the nascent state. From 1982 to 1986, Recanati served as chair of Israel Discount Bank, which his family had founded.
