Three Jewish barristers are among new appointments to the bench of the Supreme Court of South Africa, it was announced by the Minister of Justice, P.C. Pelser.
R.N. Leon, who has been serving as an acting judge, has been elevated to the status of a judge of the Natal Provincial Division of the Supreme Court. A leading Jewish communal worker, Mr. Leon is president of the Council of Natal Jewry.
N.C. Addleson has been appointed a judge of the Eastern Province Bench. He is the son of Mr. A. Addleson, a former mayor of East London and a leader of Eastern Province Jewry. C.S. Margo, S.C., has been appointed an acting judge on the Transvaal Bench. Mr. Margo is a member of the Executive Council of the S.A. Zionist Federation.
