The Swiss government said it would open a claims office to help Holocaust victims and their heirs looking for art that was looted during World War 11. The move came after a government-commissioned report said the Alpine nation was a major clearinghouse for art looted by the Nazis from Holocaust victims. Hundreds of Nazi-looted artworks passed through the hands of Swiss art dealers and collectors during the war, according to the report.
