Government grants totalling $1,510, 000 to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University for medical research were announced here today by Dr. Leroy E. Burney, Surgeon General of the United States.
Addressing a ceremony at the medical school, Dr. Burney said the initial grant of $300, 000 would be made available in September. The researches, into the physical processes of aging in man, will be carried out over five years at the Van Etten unit of the Bronx Municipal Health Center. This is the first major grant given by the U.S. Public Health Service to investigate aging in a big city.
