Apoointment of a convert to Christianity, Dr. Wertheim, to head the Jewish hospital here in place of Dr. Antoni Goldman, who was dismissed on January, 23, is expected to give rise to an action aginst the municipality. The entire Jewish population is disturbed over the incident, and considers the appointment of a convert to a leading position in a Jewish institution an open slap in the face of the Jew.
Jewish doctors here insist that they should have been consulted by the municipality with regard to the appointment.
Dr. Gold man was dismissed in connection with charges, vigorously denied by Jewish doctors, that the hospital was a center of Communist agitation. Immediately following the dismissal of Dr. Goldman, Dr. Eile was appionted temporaray head of the hospital.
