The weekly “Yiddishe Presse,” published in Rio de Janeiro since 1929, and “Der Nyer Moment,” published in Sao Paulo three times a week since 1950, have merged. In a statement to the readers, the publishers-editors of both papers, David Markus and Konrad Charmatz, announced that the merger was undertaken to avoid the collapse of both papers due to increased costs of production. Under the merger, the weekly will be distributed in Rio de Janeiro under the name “Yiddishe Presse” and in Sao Paulo under the name “Der Nyer Moment.” The editorial and printing offices will remain in Rio.
