Sir Frederick Treves, famous physician who died in Lausanne at the age of 70, is a descendant of Rashi of Troyes, capital of the Department of Aube, France. The noted scientist lived and died as a Christian, although directly descended from the famous Jewish commentator, founder of a school which flourished in the 11th and 12th centuries.
