Representatives of labor unions and fraternities participated in a conference called by the Ort Campaign Committee for the purpose of winning the support of the Jewish labor unions in the $1,000,000 campaign of the Ort.

A committee, of which Abe Baroff is chairman has appointed to consider ways and means of carrying the Ort appeal to the Jewish working masses. A. Volinsky, A. Braunstein, A. Schipliakoff, J. Baskin and M. Feinstone are members of the committee.

David Sarnoff, vice-president of the Radio Corporation of America and chairman of the New York Ort Campaign Committee emphasized the importance of the work of the Ort, stating that it constitutes a new kind of philanthropy: self-support instead of charity. It also tends to create a more even balance of the forces in Jewish life, so that there should not be a surplus of intellectuals over those who are engaged in manual pursuits.
