Arnold Schoenberg, Composer, is Reconverted to Judaism

Arnold Schoenberg, the famous composer who abandoned the Jewish faith in 1921, today was officially readmitted into the Jewish religion. The ceremony was held at the Liberal synagogue here with Rabbi Louis Germain Levy officiating.

Dr. David Marianoff, son-in-law of Professor Albert Einstein, and Marc Chagall, the noted painter, acted as witnesses.

Schoenberg, a native of Vienna, is 59 years old. He has conducted masters’ classes in the Berlin Academy of Arts and has written works for orchestra, chorus and chamber music ensembles. His “Study of Harmony” was published in 1921. He is known as a poet and theoretician.
