The 25th annual convention of the Agudath Israel Youth Council, attended by more than 500 delegates from 20 states and Canada, adjourned here today after adopting a resolution criticizing Congress for “its in##usable, indifferent attitude in pigeon-holing the Stratton Bill.”Other resolutions adopted called on President Truman to “effectively implement” ## repeated statements demanding that the British permit Jewish DP’s to enter Palestine in large numbers; urged, “in the name of the Torah,” that Jewish agencies in ##ope provide all surviving Jewish orphans in the DP camps with a religious up-##nging in accordance with the “wishes of their martyred parents;” and advocated that the Council assist “pioneer groups” of Orthodox youths in the United States to go to Palestine to help in the country’s religious upbuilding.
In a message to the organization, President Truman praised the Council’s activities for “inspiring American youth with high ideals and a keen sense of civic responsibility.”
Michael G. Tress was re-elected national president of the organization; Herman ##isser, vice-president; Solomon Septimus, chairman of the executive board; Nathan ##man, treasurer; Harold Halbert, co-treasurer; Dr. Arnold Wolf, secretary, and ##bi Morris executive director.
