Neil Diamond’s sweet gesture to the city of Boston

The people of Boston  want to forget everything about last week. The week began with the tragic terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon, taking the lives of three people, and ended with the capturing of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the bombing suspects on a suburb street during lockdown.

But the people of Boston, especially those in Fenway Park will certainly never forget the 8th inning. Since the early 2000s, the song “Sweet Caroline,” has been at least once a game. On Saturday’s game, the first home Red Sox game since the attacks, the recording of the song wasn’t enough – Neil Diamond actually performed his song live.

According to’s Jason Mastrodonato, Diamond decided to fly to Boston on Friday night, and arrived an hour before the game. Then he called the people at Fenway and said, “Hey, I’m here. Can I come sing?”

Of course, he put on a great show, and everyone sang the “pa pa pa!” part really loud.
