An Israeli army officer confiscated the press credentials of 17 foreign journalists in Bethlehem on Monday. News agencies reported that security forces refused to let the group of journalists approach the Church of the Nativity, where armed Palestinians have been holed up for three weeks, on the grounds that the area is a closed military zone.
