An Israeli reservist who became an icon of the Lebanon war endorsed a rival to Defense Minister Amir Peretz. Tomer Bohadana, a major in the reserves who was photographed by an Israeli newspaper flashing the “V for victory” sign after he was wounded in combat with Hezbollah, announced this week that he had joined the campaign team of Ami Ayalon, a leading candidate to replace Peretz as Labor Party leader in May primaries. But Bohadana, 32, was careful not to indict Peretz, a former trade union leader, for incompetence.
