A new world organization to promote Jewish emigration and colonization was founded here today under the name, EMCOL, Association for Jewish Emigration and Colonization.
Dr. Leo Bramson, Dr. Julius Brutzkus and Dr. Woytinsky have been elected to the directorate of the new association, which is supported by the ORT, the OZE and the Emigdirekt, central Jewish bodies.
The EMCOL will make a thorough study of the problems of Jewish emigration in different countries, especially in the lands of Central Europe. It will also study the possibilities of settling needy Jews in new territories.
Simultaneously with the formation of the EMCOL, a new publication in French and in German editions, devoted to the problem of Jewish migration and readjustment, began its appearance here. The publication is named Renouveau and is edited by D. Marianoff, son-in-law of Professor Albert Einstein.
The publication’s leading article points out that the most acute problems in Jewish life today are the readjustment of members of the professional classes and migration. The German edition deals with colonization possibilities in Africa, the #a East and South America, including British Guiana. Jewish opportunities in Palestine are also discussed.
