The Communist chief of militia in Kanieff, involved in an anti-Jewish ritual murder accusation, was removed from office by an order of the investigation commission.

The investigation found that the chief of militia helped to spread the ritual murder libel. He will be tried in the social-political court.

The investigation was started against the militia chief following events which took place in Kanieff on Passover Eve, when a Ukrainian girl, Leschinsky, disappeared from her home. A ritual murder accusation was directed against Benzion Lieberman. The militia chief and eight witnesses searched the home of Benzion Lieberman but found no indications to lead to such an indication. The accusation, however, spread. The day passed in fear for the Jewish population. The next morning it was found that the girl was in a maternity hospital, where she had given birth to a child.
