A gift in excess of $1,000,000 has been made to the Purdue University Research Foundation by Berthold E. And June A. Loeb, a Jewish couple of this city. The Loebs have also been contributors to the Hillel Foundation at Purdue University and have given various sums to many civic causes in this city, of which they are inhabitants.
Among their contributions was a $400,000 grant for the building of an auditorium in a city high school, a grant of land to a girl scout camp and funds to various city projects, including theatre, opera and symphony, as well as funds to the Red Cross and veterans groups. Mr. Loeb is president of Loeb’s Department Store, which his father helped found in 1871.
