Jews who have retained their membership in the Steuben Society of America were indignant yesterday in their comments on a report brought back from Germany by Theodor Hoffmann, national chairman of the organization, praising Hitler and Nazism and referring to Dr. Max Naumann, president of the contemptuosly regarded League of German-Nationalist Jews, as the “spokesman of German Jewry.”

Hoffmann, who recently returned after five weeks in the Reich, told the Steuben National Council, meeting at Teutonia Hall here, that “very important readjustments will be made in the near future” as regards German Jews.

“Jews have not been deprived of their citizenship right of franchise, as has so often been claimed in our press,” he said. “All Jews have gone to the polls unmolested. Jewish business houses are patronized by all classes of Germans, including storm troopers and schutz-staffel. On the Winter relief 54,000 Jews were supported.”

Hoffmann’s statement set at rest the last vestiges of doubt regarding the position of his organization in regard to the regime of racial discrimination which now holds the upper hand in the Reich.
