Tel Aviv Jews Go on Hunger Strike in Detention Camp; Seven Escape from Athlit

More then 600 Jews from Tel Aviv who have been held in the Rafa detention camp since the British military raid on Tel Aviv three weeks go, went on a twenty-four-hour hunger strike today in protest against the delay in questioning and releasing them. Only 150 detainees have been released during the three weeks.

The Palestine Government Public Information building was evacuated today following a telephone warning which declared: “Get out, the building is being blown up.” earlier, the staff of the Government Land Settlement Office rushed to safety after a similar warning, Police searched both buildings, but found no explosives.

Seven “illegal” immigrants have succeeded in escaping last night from the Athlit camp, it was officially announced today. This is the second escape in four days.
