Five hundred veteran Zionists, including Clara Schechter, who had attended the first World Zionist Congress at Basle in 1897, made a pilgrimage last night to the grave of the late Dr. Chaim Weizmann at Rehovot. Solemn graveside ceremonies marked the tenth anniversary of the death of Dr. Weizmann. Among the pilgrims were also two Zionists who had attended the Sixth Congress at which the late Dr. Theodor Herzl formally launched the proposal for establishing a Jewish “homeland stop-over” in Uganda.
Among the speakers in the ceremonies were Moshe Sharett, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive, leaders of several of the Israeli political parties, as well as officials of the Weizmann Institute of Science.
