A new moshav is being built on the slopes of Mount Gilboa, west of Jenin. Intended for some 100 families from the area, the settlement is called “Magen Sha’ul,” after King Saul who died at the site while battling the Philistines. Seventeen families are already residing there and homes have been completed for an additional 13 families due to arrive shortly. All the construction work is being done by the future settlers.

The Housing Ministry has allocated IL 2 million for the construction of temporary housing until permanent homes for all the families can be built. According to the plan for the moshav, each housing unit will have an eight-dunam plot attached. The moshav center will comprise a shop, clinic and synagogue. The settlement will be officially opening in two months.
